Sydney Airport is preparing for a bumper September school holidays with 2.5 million passengers forecast to travel through the terminals from Monday 23 September 2024 to Sunday 13 October 2024.
The busiest day for domestic travel is set to be Friday 27 September, with more than 80,000 passengers expected, while Saturday 28 September is forecast to be the busiest day for travel at the T1 International terminal, with 52,000 passengers expected.
Plan to arrive at the airport at least one hour before domestic flights with hand luggage, two hours if checking bags and three hours for international flights.
As we continue with security upgrades, some protocols may have changed since you travelled last.

Visit the Flights page to find your flight and subscribe.
If you're planning to park at the terminals, prebook your parking ahead of travel to guarantee a spot.
If you're driving to the airport, be aware that some journeys in and out of the precinct have recently changed due to the opening of the Sydney Gateway motorway.
Visit the Transport for NSW website to familiarise yourself with the new connections and lane changes before you travel.
We're adding an extra dose of fun for families travelling through Terminal 2 over the school holidays. From Monday 30 September to Sunday 13 October, the terminal will be buzzing with excitement with our interactive school holiday activation.
Where? T2 Departures, past security towards the Virgin gates. Our School Holidays activation is just past the Heinemann department store, next to Beer DeLuxe.
While you enjoy the festive atmosphere, don't miss out on our exclusive in-terminal retail offer. Our ‘Spend and Get’ promotion is the perfect opportunity to indulge in some pre-flight shopping or grab a delicious meal at one of T2's many eateries. Whether you're looking for travel essentials or a last-minute treat, there's something for everyone.
