We’re working closely with the NSW Government to improve access to and from the airport. Our work within the airport precinct will be complemented by the NSW Government’s projects on the surrounding road network.
We welcome the NSW and Australian governments’ commitment to invest $282 million to upgrade off-airport roads The works planned for the area as part of this project includes:
- replacing the General Holmes Drive rail level crossing with a road underpass linking General Holmes Drive, Botany Road and Wentworth Avenue
- improvements to the Mill Pond Road intersections with General Holmes Drive and Botany Road
- widening Joyce Drive and General Holmes Drive between O’Riordan Street and Mill Pond Road to three lanes in each direction
- we’re also advocating improvements to O’Riordan and Robey streets and the widening of Marsh Street
Better public transport
We welcomed the NSW Government’s recent decision to increase the number of train services to Sydney Airport. There are now 10 trains an hour stopping at the two airport stations during peak times, 25% more than in 2013.
Sydney Airport also welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement to introduce new and expanded bus routes to the airport. We’re building better bus facilities in our precincts to support these bus routes.
